THE DETAILS Hope for the future can be found in the past. PERSONALITY A mess. Stubborn, prickly, guarded, closed-off. From a destroyed future where the Earth was a desolate wasteland, she fears vulnerability more than anything else, as other scavengers would take what she had. She has nothing positive to say, and is always focused on the worst. A survivalist through and through, she does whatever she has to to live on. She's willing to steal, lie, cheat, or fight for it, given that she understands everyone is in the same position as her... Or so she claims. In truth, she's a bleeding heart, a hero, who has been left downtrodden by the world. She gives everything she can to those less fortunate, she can't help but fight injustice wherever she sees it. Even at great personal risk, she doesn't mind. She's selfless, and that's at odds with the horrible world she hails from. A pessimist through-and-through, she still wants to help everyone she can despite it. She's down on herself constantly, though. She doesn't really believe she's capable of saving everything, because hope is the most dangerous poison to her. If she has hope, then it will always just be crushed again. Better to go without hope from the start to avoid losing it. If she doesn't have hope, there's no reason to be disappointed if she fails, and no problem if she dies in her mission. She starts out rather depressed and unfeeling about herself. She returns to the past to change the timeline and avert her own timeline, knowing it will likely result in her own erasure- And she's happy about that fact. To erase herself is fine, because then she doesn't have to deal with the constant exhausting wasteland future. But over time, she begins to care, and open up, showing herself to be caring, compassionate, and kind... and still willing to sacrifice herself to bring about a better future. HISTORY By the year 2150, the world was a blasted, desolate wasteland. The Earth had nothing left, and could no longer support life. What few survivors remained fought and scrabbled over the scraps. Extinction of all life was all but guaranteed. By the year 2218, a group known as PARADOX had emerged. They sought to preserve the timeline by returning to the past and ensuring that this, the worst possible timeline, would come about... And yet, at the same time, they would avoid the problems of it. They would live in the comfort of the past, before everything went to shit, but would still ensure the end of the world, to preserve their own timeline's existence. However, Iris found them. Through sheer coincidence, while scavenging, she found their base of operations. She found the time gate, still powered, and learned what PARADOX had planned through an agent- One who had gone to the past, taken the form of a monster, and then stayed, living through those two centuries. Exhausted, he gave Iris a special item, a strange belt. The perfected MASKED System, an armor that draws upon the power of time to fight. Entrusting her with this, he confessed he had become numb to the plans of PARADOX. He did not wish for the world to be destroyed, he wished to protect the beautiful world he had once seen. Iris could only respond to his wishes, and went through the time gate, even as the monster who told her all of this crumbled away behind her. Arriving in the past, she found a verdant world she hardly understood- The mid-twenty-first century, a time of great advancement and joy. The Information Age. And there, she met the past version of the monster who had just given her a belt, who was still young and believed in PARADOX's hypocritical ideals. Possessing a human of the era, he took his monster form and attacked, leaving Iris with no choice but to activate the MASKED System, transform into a Kamen Rider, and destroy the monster. The timeline was thus truly thrown into chaos. And so Iris resolved- She would destroy her timeline, no matter what that did to her.
